FAQ

Are public holidays excluded?

No. This calculator counts Monday through Friday only. Public holidays vary by country, region and employer, so a universal calculator cannot subtract them. For a holiday-aware count, subtract the relevant national or regional holidays from the result.

Are both endpoints included?

Yes. Both the start date and end date are counted if they fall on a weekday. A Monday-to-Friday range counts as 5 working days. A Friday-to-Monday range counts as 2 (the Friday and the Monday).

What if my dates are in reverse order?

The calculator swaps the dates internally if the 'to' date is before the 'from' date, so the result is always non-negative. This is intentional ergonomics — you should not have to remember which field is the earlier date.

How is this different from a calendar day count?

A calendar day count includes weekends. A working day count excludes Saturday and Sunday. Over a 30-day calendar span you typically get 20-22 working days, depending on which days of the week the start and end fall on.

Does this work for half-day or shift workers?

The calculator counts whole weekdays only. For partial-day or shift-based workflows, multiply the working day count by your daily hours or use the count as a baseline and apply your specific schedule manually.

Why do contracts often quote 'business days'?

Business day counts protect both parties from weekend-skewed deadlines. If a contract says 'delivery within 5 business days' a Friday order does not need to ship by Sunday — it needs to ship by the following Friday. Use this calculator to verify any business-day deadline.
